The Bandy family has a strong interest in the Fincastle Presbyterian Church. The family that built Wiloma Plantation ( circa. 1842 ), the home of the Bandy’s, were prominent members of this church. Their family name was Utz, and they were originally from Philadelphia. The original congregation was established prior to 1763 and was known as the “Sinking Springs Congregation.” The actual church was erected in 1770.
Built in 1830,the Kyle House sits at the corner of Main and Church Streets and is named for its first owner, Robert Kyle, a prosperous landowner and merchant. The Kyle House is a three-story brick structure with a hand-laid limestone foundation. The building is best known for exquisitely carved interior woodwork on fireplace mantels, archways, door frames, and the large scale three story open staircase. The carving is comparable with the best in Virginia. Tradition has it that an itinerant German woodcarver rendered the carvings.
I always believed in love at first sight, and the minute I laid eyes on Chase, I knew he was the one. I met him through working with his dad, Mike Witt, at the Kroger Division office. One day, Mike asked me if I was dating anybody, to which I answered “no.” He immediately asked me to meet his son, Chase. Chase drove all the way from Knoxville, TN to meet me, and before he headed back home, we were already a bona fide couple! From the first day I met Chase, I realized just how hard God was lining up everything in our lives to bring us together at the right time.
The greatest thing about Chase is his heart. He has so much love to give, and he always finds a way to make me laugh, even during the toughest of times. I thank the Lord every day for bringing Chase into my life. He has brought me the greatest joy and happiness that I have ever experienced, and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with him as his “soulmite.”
What to say about Rachel ... well, I am really glad that I took my father's advice to meet this amazing girl. Upon our first date, I knew she was the one because of her out-going personality and her cute little silver streak (did I mention I was an X-Men Fan?). My favorite attribute about Rachel is her competitive attitude toward pretty much anything she encounters, whether it's teaching me a thing or two about tennis or a rocking game of NCAA Football on the X-box 360. It always comes down to the wire, except with tennis ...
All competitiveness aside, our pros and cons are going to make us an amazing team for the many life challenges to come, and I thank the Lord every day for blessing me with the opportunity to have so much happiness with Rachel.
